Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your experience. Similar technologies include localStorage, which stores data directly in your browser.
things101, operated by ZorkaLight LLC, uses cookies, localStorage, and similar technologies for several purposes:
Required for the website to function properly. These enable core features like user authentication, shopping cart functionality, and secure checkout. Authentication uses secure, HttpOnly session cookies that client-side scripts cannot read; we also use localStorage for non-sensitive data such as your shopping cart before you sign in. You cannot opt out of these.
Remember your settings and preferences to provide a more personalized experience.
Set by Stripe during checkout to securely process your payment. These are necessary for the checkout functionality.
Some cookies are placed by third-party services that we use to operate our marketplace:
| Service | Cookies Used | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Sign-In | Set by Google on google.com | Authentication when you choose Google sign-in (set on Google's domain during the redirect) |
| Stripe | __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Fraud prevention and session management during checkout |
| X (Twitter) Sign-In | Set by X on x.com | Authentication when you choose X sign-in (set on X's domain during the redirect) |
| Cloudflare | __cf_bm, cf_clearance | Bot management and security screening |
We authenticate your session with secure, HttpOnly cookies. Because they are HttpOnly, client-side JavaScript cannot read them, which protects your session from cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks:
access_token — Your active session token (expires after 30 minutes)refresh_token — Used to obtain new access tokens (expires after 7 days)Signing out or clearing your browser cookies will end your session. We use localStorage only for non-sensitive data such as your shopping cart (before you sign in) and your display-theme preference.
We use the following third-party services that may set cookies:
These services have their own privacy policies and cookie policies. We encourage you to review them.
You can control cookies and localStorage in several ways:
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may impact your ability to use our marketplace.
localStorage holds non-sensitive data such as your guest shopping cart and theme preference (not your login). To clear it:
Note: Clearing localStorage empties your guest cart and resets your theme. To sign out, use the Sign Out button or clear your browser cookies.
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature. Currently, we do not respond to Do Not Track signals, but you can manage your cookie preferences using the methods described above. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please revisit this page periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies and similar technologies.
